Sewing wish list

If time, money and sewing rage were no object, this is what I'd make myself next week. A polka dot trench coat, a dress with generous pockets (I have the perfect green sheet to make this out of) and a grey bubble skirt, also with pockets. Hopefully I will make them all soon, although I suspect it will take a lot of cursing at the sewing machine. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that my usual sewing style is to try to run up the perfect garment the night before it has to be worn to a wedding. Another thing that usually makes me curse is photoshop, but I as you can see I have been learning to colour in my drawings with it. So far it seems a bit less stressful than sewing!

Mug shot

I find it really hard to draw myself. Sometimes it works better if I draw myself with my left hand first (I am very much right handed). I drew this self portrait from my passport photo and coloured the background in photoshop.

How about you? What do you find hard to draw?

New Zealand Shipping Company

Isn't this awesome? If you live in Auckland, the Maritime Museum is free this month, so you can go and look at lots of old shipping ephemera. And lament the fact that passenger lists are not nearly this pretty now.

Autumn

Autumn, I think you're my favourite season. The other day I was going for a walk looking at the Autumn leaves and I found this house with brightly coloured Easter eggs in among the leaves...

Doily bird

A little sketch I did last night. Thanks for your lovely doilies Agnes Curran.

Open for business!

My Felt and Etsy shops are officially open for business! At the moment I've got gocco prints in them; I will also be listing gocco printed patches and other goodies. The Felt shop is called Miss Crow, the Etsy one is called Millicent Crow. You can get to them by clicking on the buttons to your right. Whew, I feel like I should be smashing a bottle of champagne against the computer! You know, like you smash a bottle of champagne against a boat when you name it...

Colourful

Not a lot of drawing round here this week...again. So I thought I'd show you some colourful pictures I took in Onehunga. The second one is from an amaaazing haberdashery shop where the walls are all covered in sequinned motifs & patches...

I think a day in Onehunga always feels like a holiday.

Royalty

Don't have a lot to show this week - I've been busy setting up my Felt and Etsy shops...more on that soon! So lots of administration & no drawing. But I was making a cake for a friend's birthday and noticed all the royal family themed things in my kitchen, so I thought I'd show off some of those...

Silver Jubilee mug

Commemorative teaspoons:

Charles & Di tea tin
And somewhere round the house I've got a little coronation plate. I reckon that counts as another collection!

New prints

I've been busy printing all day today & the house is now covered in prints of these folk. I'm thinking about calling them, from top to bottom: Gertrude, Prudence, Henry & Esmerelda. Good old-fashioned names.

Collections

As well as green cardigans and old photos, I have lots of other collections. Another thing I collect is green china that looks like it's made out of leaves. Now that's pretty specific!

Sometimes there are casualties. Like this one that got smashed by a cat that jumped through our window.

I'll put up some more photos of my collections over the next few days, even though realising how many things I collect will probably be a bit scary!
